Help a fellow Rugger

From a member of the IC Ducks team Dave Lynch:

Boys,

About a month ago, my good friend and former long time teammate, Mike Jones, was critically injured in a collapsed scrum while playing in a tournament down in Florida.  Mike is paralyzed from the neck down and is in a treatment center in New Jersey.  The burden on Jonesy’s family is tremendous.  His wife has taken a leave from her teaching job so that she and Mike’s 2 year old daughter can be with him.  (See this article written in a local paper http://www.timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=915094&category=SPORTS )

Though Jonesy is making incredible strides in his treatment, it is impossible to predict how much of a recovery he will make or what his future holds.  What I do know is that the journey for him and his family will be long and painful.  It will also be expensive.  Rugby players have always had a great history of stepping up and helping others in need, especially fellow ruggers.  That is why I’m reaching out to all the other rugby players I know with this story to ask for help in at least easing the financial burden on Mike’s family.  I realize that we all have our financial situations and I certainly don’t want to pressure anyone but if you feel compelled to help out follow either of these links for ways to make a donation or find another way to help.
