Magic Bus Update!!

"Hey Hawk Fans and Magic Bus loyalists. The Iowa City Rugby Team has a new location for the Magic Bus. The walk to the stadium is about 2 minutes longer but it means the Greatest Tradition in Tailgating has a home. The address is availble on our Magic Bus Page.  It is accessible off Melrose Avenue by following the gravel road right after the Melrose Avenue Bridge on the University Heights side south. You can also get there off Benton Street. The area we have will be bigger and paved. It’s perfect for those girls who have ruined a favorite pair of shoes at the old location.

Speaking of the old location, we will need your help to drive facebook people to our group page to get the word out of our new home and what is happening at the old place. As most of are likely already aware, last year the property used by the Magic Bus was sold to a new owner. At this point, the rumor going around is that the new owner and a local restaurant are going to try and run a For-Profit type tailgater at our old location. This is not the Magic Bus. This is not for charity. The new owner’s lack of charity cost our charities about $8,000 in donations last year due to their greed. This is all we are going to say about them thru this site.

We will still strive to support our Hawkeyes, live music, and local children and community based charities at the new home of the Magic Bus. We will continue to support our sponsors. Our sponsors are key to making this thing get off the ground each summer. As you know we empty our resources each year to local charities and need a lot of start up funds to get it going each fall. Please support these sponsors when you can.
